During a period of calm and contentment the climate of politik had been kind and a most wondrous crop of outputs was expected. The Unit of Sky and Earth was peaceful and productive and there began a feeling of excitement and wonder - a big change was on the horizon and all of the serfs and their masters were expectant of great wealth and power coming their way.
Sadim The Bully had waited a long time and had politiked and manipulated with great patience and determination to get to this moment. Now was his time. He felt it in his Old Peculiar. The riches he deserved were to be his for the taking. He may even take a step closer to his own seat. He looked down on his Unit and smiled. He had worked damn hard to get to this point. He had lost count of the number of twenty hour weeks he had put in. The long long hours in the ale house practicing the ways of the 'Loud Bore' (a fabled wild pig, he imagined).
One bright morning there came a call from the Magi. An audience was arranged for later that very day! There was an excitement in The Unit that all could taste and outputs were forgotten for a while. After hours that seemed like days the time of the audience arrived and The Bully, the Techie, and their most trusted serfs approached the Hall of the Magi.
It quickly became apparent that all was not as expected and a nervousness engulfed all that were present. The Magi led the members of The Unit into an area of the Kingdom known as The Square and pointed out a derelict castle. "This is to be your new home" she proclaimed. "Look how important and valued you are in the Kingdom. We hold this Square in great regard and want you, our favoured Unit, to occupy a castle here with those other fellowships who were once Ternals". A great darkness descended on the members of The Unit. The Bully seethed within and only with great difficulty did hold his tongue, but the power of the Magi was great and even he was not such a fool as to show his displeasure too greatly. However, all were disappointed and told the Magi so. "This Castle is fine but surely needs much work in renovation and cleaning before it can be used" they opined. "Fear not", the Magi responded, "Let us view the property from the inside and discuss renovations and curtains" (for such were the interests of the Magi).
The Castle was not in good order, although it did have privys in number greater than serfs in The Unit, and every room did have washing facilities. Truly it was a shit hole. Never in their wildest nightmares did the members of The Unit consider this to be fitting of their status, unless be done much work of renovation involving the spending of much gold. The Bully could hold his rage no longer, but feared the Magi greatly and what might happen if he transgressed in her view. He stormed off to the ale house calling for all to hear "Never will I set foot in that monstrous place". "I am worthy of so much more and my Unit deserving of greater space and status". As he left the Square he was heard to exclaim "No, No, No! I will not go to bed now for I am not tired".
The fellows of The Unit were embarassed by this behaviour and sought to protect their colleague from the wrath of the Magi. They knew that if this battle were to be won it would take great skill in the art of politik, and powerful allies would need to be courted. Goldbird and the Guru took it upon themselves to fight for the future of The Unit and went off with the Magi to face the full Council of the Magi and maybe even the King of Unity himself.
On hearing of the lack of outrage being manifested by Goldbird and the Guru, his senior serfs and most important allies, The Bully exploded in a flurry of anger and indignation. He gathered together all of his evil sorcery and hurled out Pom Poms of Mass Destruction, intending to end the rule of the Magi and the exsistence of his treasonous serfs once and for all. Such was the greatness of the power of the mighty Bully that none even noticed this wave of destruction, save the movement of the leaves upon the ground and a gentle sigh in the wind. A corner had been turned. The Bully slithered off to the Ale House to gather his wits and plan revenge.
There are many tales to be told about this seminal moment including the gathering in the foothills with a bleery eyed Sadim. Please be patient, the scribes are working hard to bring these tales to you.
